
In 1966, Coach Don Haskins, formerly a respected but lil known female-basketball coach signed a contract with Texas Western (Miners) College to coach the boys basketball team. Shocking the world, he led the Miners to their first ever NCAA National Championship. From a team that was eliminated in the early stages during the previous seasons, the Miners shocked the all season undefeated favourites, Kentucky, to a glorifying championship. So glorious, the story goes down the road 42 years.
